My Hysterectomy, Tina Turner & Wigs

**ANNOUNCEMENT** There’s 3 slots left for my May 12-13 Lace Wig Mastery Training Seminar! There’s still time to get your application in to attend the seminar.

Tuesday I arrived back from my trip to the 2012 Arrojo Expo in NY. Words cannot express how inspired I was and how much fun I had!

Needless to say I was dog tired when I got back, but I knew I had a long day ahead of me with Dr Appointments today, so I got to bed early and tried to get a good night’s sleep.

I woke up at “O’Dark 30″ to take the kids to school and head to downtown Charleston to my long awaited Dr Appointments.

After being diagnosed with Endometriosis back in August of last year, going through hormonal therapy amongst other things, my Doctor decided to ask me about having a hysterectomy.

I had been between Novasure and a partial hysterectomy since December of 2011.  I had settled on what I thought would be the best option for me.

After careful consideration from my Doctor I was scheduled for surgery (Partial Hysterectomy) the day after my Lace Wig Mastery Training Seminar.

Although I’m very nervous, I know that God will be in the operating room, and I’m most excited that I will not have to deal with the excruciating pain I’ve dealt with for over 15 years.

After I met with the doctor, I was immediately sent up to Pre-Op to get everything scheduled and set in stone for my up/coming surgery.

The Nurse Practitioner that did my Anesthesia interview was such a sweet woman. She had some of the most beautiful hair I’ve seen in a long time.

Once I got in the room she asked me what I did for a living and I told her I was a hairdresser, and she immediately started to tell me about her hair.

It was almost down to her butt! She told me she was growing it out to donate to Locks Of Love! I was so excited, I told her that I make wigs for some people suffering from Cancer.

After asking about the amount of detail that goes into these wigs, then she told me that she was watching a documentary on Tina Turner the other day and learned that Tina made her own wigs!

In the video interview she says she didn’t have many, but the ones she did have didn’t look like they “came off the rack”.

One word “Wow”! Now, if Tina Turner can entertain and make her own wigs, you can too! You can do the same thing.

You can make them for yourself, or start a business. That Nurse Practitioner said something today that I didn’t expect, something that you’d never hear come from someone that wasn’t in the hair industry…

“What you do, and what you teach people…that’s an art. It’s an art to be able to learn that skill and make people feel good about themselves again”

She’s exactly right, wig making is an art, but it is a dying art that is being out sourced more and more every day.

My goal is to train thousands of new “Artists” and keep this skill/craft here where it belongs!

I hope you enjoyed this story, please keep me in your prayers.

Take care and be blessed!

HELLO MARQUETTA, I HAD A TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY DONE IN 11/28/2011 it was a scary thing to think about was being opened up parts off your body being taking out. The only thing that got me Threw was GOD and the PRAYERS THAT PEOPLE SENT UP FOR ME. I HAD NO ONE BUT THE DOCTOR AND MY RESEARCH ON HYSTERECTOMY. It does not hurt your sex life for some women. IT’S CALLED NO PAIN ANYMORE FROM CYCLES. I WILL KEEP YOU LIFTED IN PRAYER.

I went through the same problems for about the same number of years until the last doctor actually diagnosed endometriosis as well.  She did a full hysterectomy:  1) because I only had 1 ovary left so why leave it and 2) I didn’t want to risk the need for her having to go back in to remove that 1. After 3 C-sections & 1 other abdominal surgery I’d had enough.  I was back walking on a treadmill (slowly) 4-6 weeks later.  You will come thru it with flying colors.

WOW!!! Keeping you in my prayers… I’m glad you went with the partial… Most don’t understand what a full can do… If anyone can get a particial better than full anytime… Unless absolutely needed.

I pray that our God. The god who can even turn bones into flesh and make them breathe again,
to have mercy upon you and your family.  You must be healthy to continue helping and sharing your talent with people like me.

Thanks for sharing everything with us. I believe that the next news from you, will be good news about you.

A Luganda song says,( Alikuluda lwange). it means he is by my side. it continues that who is my enemy?, when he rises, sickness heals and the enemy runs away.

He will surely rise for you.

    From,
    Loyce.

Hi Marquetta, A Big thank you for all that you do, it has truly been a help to my family for me to be able to use ur dvds to learn different styles and am now making money doing so, although making money was never my intentions. I just wanted to be able to give my grls the styles that I couldn’t afford, so I learned by watching you, and as a result other moms liked it and wanted their grls hair done now I have accumilated in a matter of a few months 15 paying customers and more and more moms asking. I have not gained the confidence yet to do adults but maybe in the future that will come. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I truly understand where you are right now as I was diagnosed with endometriosis too and opted for the surgery, I too had a partial and am so glad that I did, I am free of the pain and all other terrible things that come with endometriosis as i’m sure you have had to experience. I pray that you will have a speedy recovery and just know IT IS WELL!!! God Is In Control! Plz, Plz, Plz, be sure to take care after surgery and let your body heal totally before you jump rt bk into things.
