Preparing Hair For Cornrows
Planning is crucial if you want to have beautiful cornrows. Here are a few tips on how to prepare your hair for beautiful cornrows and cornrow extensions:
1) Keep rubber bands, hair clips, and a "rat-tail" comb on hand. These can be used to help manage stray hairs and make the braiding process easier.
2) The next point to consider is the condition of your hair. Your hair should be clean and mostly dry. It's okay if it's slightly damp, but you don't want to have it soaking wet. A spray bottle can help keep hair moist during the braiding process. In addition, using a moisturizer such as a natural oil mixture (i.e. olive oil) helps to soften the hair. Precise braiding is the best way to get a lasting style and if you pull it too hard, it only adds to pain and possible hair loss.
3) Your stylist should continue the braiding process until they reach the end of the hair. There are many different ways to secure the ends of your braids. Talk with your stylist to see which method works best for you.
