Tips For Getting Micro Braids

Many people find managing their hair time-consuming and difficult. For some, their hair just does not seem to grow fast enough for their liking.

If you are looking for a natural - yet effective - solution, micro braiding could be the answer. Micro braiding refers to very thin braids all over the scalp. These are easy to maintain and can help encourage faster growth.

Before you get micro braids done, it is important to meet with a professional braider who can tell you whether or not your hair is suitable for micro braiding. Micro braiding is not appropriate for long hair or for dry and brittle hair. If you find out that your hair is suitable for micro braids, then it's time take the next step.

Before micro braiding, you need to pre-treat your hair with a hot oil massage, followed by conditioning and moisturizing. When getting micro braids done, make sure that the braids are not too thin or tight, as this will cause tension in your scalp and lead to hair thinning.

Once your micro braids are in place, you will need to follow a maintenance routine. This maintenance routine involves conditioning and moisturizing regularly with a mild shampoo. When shampooing the scalp, use a diluted formula to avoid any residue. A healthy diet, plenty of sleep and rest, and plenty of water is essential to keeping braids healthy.

Do not wear your micro braids for more than three months. After removing the braids, use a wide-toothed comb on slightly damp hair and then shampoo.
