You can get your hair braided by African women who have acquired their skills in their homeland. Additionally, many regular hair salons employ skilled people to provide hair braiding services.
Surfing through the phone book or the internet can be a great way to find a hair braider. You might also simply stop a woman on the street who is sporting a gorgeous style and ask her to give you the name of her stylist. Most people are more than happy to share this information.
Before you start with a braider, you need to clarify a few points. Ask the braider whether she will come to your house or whether you will need to go to her place. The time the braider needs to complete the work is also important. Remember that some styles can take hours to complete. You may need to set aside an entire day or night to obtain the style you want.
Another factor to consider is how many stylists will be working on you at a time. The process will take more time if a single braider works on you, while it will take much less time if there is an extra pair of hands helping with your braids. Additionally, do not forget to ask the braider whether the cost will include hair, or if you will need to bear that cost separately.
Before visiting a braider, take a look at a few magazines to get an idea of the most suitable style for you. Just keep in mind that photographs will not always reflect your true results.
It's also a smart idea to ask the braider for a reference or two. Talking to their previous clients will give you a better sense of their work. Ask questions about how gentle she is during the process and how much of time she takes. If you find out that the braider's current customers are satisfied with her work, you will feel much more comfortable and confident going into the process.
