Tips For Great-Looking Hair All Year Round
Are you getting tired of the same old look? Do you find yourself wishing for something new and different? Maybe it's time for an annual review of your hair care routine.
Everyone changes their look at one point or another; in fact, most of us change the way we look fairly often to keep life interesting. Rather than doing this randomly, though, why not plan a year-long approach to managing hair care and auxiliary (nails, waxing, etc.) services? Here's what this type of calendar could look like, although each person's calendar will vary according to individual needs or preferences:
January: Consult with a salon specialist about a whole new look this year. Start with your haircut and style. Add cosmetic features like eyebrows, makeup, and jewelry, if applicable. If you're not sure about the first consultation, get a second opinion. Some salons offer just hair care services, so you may have to handle the other parts separately.
February: Evaluate your new look from January. Does the haircut hold its shape? How does your hair color or highlights fit with your general appearance? Get a deep conditioning treatment to combat dry indoor winter air.
March: Get a haircut or trim. Or, consider a fresh natural look for spring, like loose curls or tight braids. Arch your brows more delicately, and lighten up on your make-up application.
April: To keep it looking good, modify your hairstyle with braid adjustments or a new curling style. Study your hair's ends to see if you need more or less conditioning. Decide whether to stay with current hair care products or try something new.
May: Time for a trim or cut! Consider going shorter for summer unless you want to stay with braids or an up-do.
June: Ask your consultant about highlights. Check your roots to make sure any color is evenly applied. Replace grooming tools.
July: Get a summer haircut to keep locks fresh and healthy. Re-apply highlights if needed.
August: Check with your consultant about an end-of-summer deep-conditioning treatment for sun-baked hair.
September: Ask for a new fall hairstyle by considering a perm or relaxing product. Get your hair trimmed and in shape for your new experience.
October: Want to try lowlights? These can add sheen and glimmer to your hair in a unique, understated way.
November: Have your salon pro trim away dead and "frizzed" ends. Get your style shaped up for the holiday season.
December: Add some sparkle to your life with an exciting new hairstyle (Here's a tip: for that New Year's Eve party, sprinkle your hair with glitter!).
Why not start your own hair care calendar? It's a fabulous way to keep your mane looking healthy and gorgeous all year round.
