Choosing Hair For Your Weave
When it comes to choosing hair types for weaving, you have two options available for you: human hair and synthetic hair. Even when you are tempted by the variety of synthetic hair available, it is best to opt for human hair.
Human hair has distinct advantages over synthetic hair. With human hair, you can enjoy a wide variety of textures and types. In addition, human hairs are far more versatile. You can color them, wet-set, and heat-style them.
The price of human hair can range from $25 to $600. On the other hand, the price of synthetic hair ranges from $6 to $12 per quarter pound. Synthetic hair is also available in various colors and textures. You must be cautious while using synthetic hair, since it's not as durable as human hair. Although most types of synthetic hair can be wet-set, only certain kinds can be heat-styled.
If you want your hairstyle to have a long life, it's a good idea to choose a style which fits the way you live. The endurance of a weave greatly depends on the way it is put in. Ask your hairstylist about the best way to attach your weave. Keep in mind your lifestyle and the look you're trying to achieve. For example, people with a busy, active lifestyle should choose a sew-in weave. This type of weave is sewn directly onto cornrows, which lends it more stability.
For a natural-looking weave, you should match the human or synthetic hair with your own natural hair color. If you color your own hair first, and then color the applied hair, you will get better results. Coloring both sets of hair simultaneously does not always yield satisfactory results, since the rate of color absorption of both hair types varies. It's a good idea to consult a stylist about which hair color compliments your skin tone.
If you're getting a weave done in preparation for a big event, get the weave done a week ahead of time so you have time to adjust to your new appearance. Avoid using spray or gel containing alcohol as it may damage the new hair.
A weave can open up doors to exciting new hairstyles and a brand-new look.
